Just as how much people in other countries have
aerated drinks, the market in India is also a large one. A large percentage of
the population in India are addicted to drinks like Coca-Cola and Sprite. As
per a report in the Economic Times, Coco-Cola plans to introduce aluminium bottles in the Indian market.
The roll out is planned to occur in the next
three-four years. Aluminium bottles
will be available for Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Coke and Sprite.
The aluminium
bottle has already made its debut in countries like US, UK and China. The
200ml serving is quite popular. It costs consumers 40% more than the PET
bottles.
While Coca-Cola and other cola makers widely use aluminium cans and cans made from other
metals, aluminium bottles came into
existence in 2005 and soon found their way on online shopping portal, eBay,
fashion magazines and luxury retailers. It is recognised for its breakthrough
and stylish design.
As compared to glass bottles, aluminium bottles offer longer product longevity and have a smaller
impact on health. It is also easier to transport, reduces direct exposure of
the content to the sun, increases shelf-life and keeps the freshness of the
product intact.
India is no different than any other market where
Coca-Cola operates when it comes to drive acceptance of a new packaging.
He stated that it is the marketing strength behind
any new product that drives acceptance of the said product. For instance, when
they launched the Coke sleek cans a year and a half ago, if not for the
marketing muscle behind it, people would not have accepted the idea in as large
numbers as they did.
